I have always been interested in media and this led to me joining the Dubplate to Dubstep project. On the project I was the producer so I helped film, plan, research and edit. I also had the opportunity to interview local DJs like DJ Derek, and took part in three radio shows.
I learnt about the history of music; where certain genres originated, and how they have progressed. A highlight was when I was asked to direct. It was an amazing experience; I soon became aware of the pressure, but loved the freedom to express my own ideas. I met so many inspirational people during the project; one was Mykaell Jenkins, who encouraged me to start projects in my own time. This project has helped me secure a 3 month placement at the BBC and a further paid work placement. I also help present a 2 hour show every week on Ujima.
